Power with control

Each Beolab 90 is equipped with 18 advanced speaker drivers positioned in different directions around the cabinet. The drivers are powered by 14 channels of ICEpower amplification and four additional Class D amplifiers.

The total amplification is 8,200 watts per speaker. This substantial capacity is not simply about maximum volume. It also allows Beolab 90 to retain control, dynamics and detail when music or films place greater demands on the system.

The result is a large and precise soundstage with substantial bass depth, clear voices and accurate placement of instruments and effects.

When more people are listening, the sound distribution can be widened to cover a larger area. Beolab 90 can also be set to distribute sound throughout the entire room, for example when the speakers are used for background music or a party.

Beam Direction Control also allows you to select one of five directions as the speaker’s acoustic front. This means the speaker does not need to physically face your preferred listening position.

DESIGN AND CRAFTSMANSHIP

Beolab 90 is shaped around its acoustic construction. Its distinctive form accommodates 18 speaker drivers pointing in different directions, which together make the advanced sound control possible.

The main cabinet is cast in solid aluminium and weighs 65 kg, providing a stable foundation for the four bass drivers and extensive electronics. The cabinet is covered in an elastic, partially transparent fabric that allows the construction beneath the surface to remain visible.

The upper aluminium elements are made from solid bars that are shaped, anodised and polished. Every speaker is individually manufactured and tested, including testing in Bang & Olufsen’s purpose-built anechoic chamber.
